Turbo Track Ferrari World

FERRARI WORLD : TURBO TRACK’s opening night !

The newest addition to Ferrari World’s ever growing list of attractions…Turbo Track, officially opened last night to all thrill seekers. Of course, Travellerczech couldn’t miss this unique opportunity to be one of the first “brave” souls to test it and bring you full review of this exciting new rollercoaster.

Watch VIDEO below with all the important moments of the opening event and most importantly … the “attraction in action” itself !

Intamin made Turbo Track will “shoot” you on a 30 seconds journey, accelerating to over 100km/h in a matter of seconds. Two interchanging ride vehicles seats 12 riders each and facing both directions.

After everyone on board is secured with lap bars, vehicle is catapulted out of the theme park through central glass funnel 64m vertically upright on a intertwined track.

Travellerczech’s opinion :

I was very impressed with the vehicle delivery system of two carriages. It is a very efficient passengers loading system allowing for a quick transition and therefore reducing waiting time!

The ride itself lasts “only” 30 seconds but the intensity, speed and the twist is well worth it. I have tried all seats and front seat facing forward is in my opinion, the most enjoyable! Anyway, you need to ride at least twice to experience backward and front facing seats.

Turbo Track is a very enjoyable, will definitely give you adrenalin rush and don’t forget to look around once you are on the top.  Yes, it could be a bit taller, but that’s just me.

Also, the pre-show could be slightly shorter…

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi Turbo Track
Tested and verified 🙂

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is re-inventing itself as the ultimate rollercoaster destination of the region, leaving way behind its competition. No other Middle Eastern park can offer such top class adrenalin rides with improved theming, friendly staff and tasty Italian coffee 🙂

With the world’s fastest rollercoaster Formula Rossa and Flying Aces including the highest twisted loop, Ferrari World will continue to thrill us even more with addition of mysterious dark SFX coaster. Stay tuned!

And that’s not all folks, Warner Bros. Movie World is in final construction stage to be ready for its 2018 opening and Clymb, world’s biggest indoor skydive and climbing wall will follow shortly after.

Le Meridien Westin Hotel Bahrain Gym & Spa

TRAVEL FIT : Workout, relax and enjoy Bahrain

Do you like to keep fit while “on the road” and choosing accommodation depending on the hotel fitness, or spa facilities ?

Have you been also wondering, why hotel booking sites and hotel pages contains so little or non-existent informations and photos from their fitness facilities?

Yes, you are not alone! I am not an olympic athlete by any means, but enjoy de-stressing cardio session or few lifts after long day at work or just little “top up” during beach vacation.

That’s why I have decided to review gyms in every hotel I am staying in and help you find and recommend ( or not ) a gym while travelling.

Bahrain is a small welcoming country in the Persian Gulf. If you find yourself travelling here for business, Formula 1 race, or to discover the ancient Dilmun civilisation history, you will need hotel and a GYM!

The City Centre Mall complex with adjacent Le Meridien and the Westin hotels offers a great accommodation, comfort and shared spa & fitness facilities.

Access is granted with your room card and gym is open 24hrs. Heavenly Spa closes at 9pm.

Motiongate Dubai Dreamworks Kung-Fu Panda Unstoppable Awesomness Ride

MOTIONGATE : Unstoppable Awesomeness is open !

Motiongate Dubai theme park quietly opened another ride inside its 45.000 sq.m indoor DreamWorks section.

Kunfu-Panda zone’s newest addition is called Unstoppable Awesomeness and I am happy to say it has the potential to be totally awesome ride, once all elements of the ride are fully operational.

Upon entering, you will be totally immersed in the Kunf-Fu Panda universe with its elaborate theming, twinkling Chinese lanterns and cleverly used forced perspective. This section of the park also host the Mr. Ping’s Noodle Fling ride ( spinning tea cups/bowls ).

All Motiongate attraction queuing lines are very well themed and Unstoppable Awesomeness is no exception.  Pleasant walk through Chinese forest lined by cute little buildings and bamboo leads to a pre-show room first.

There are actually two pre-shows. They are both witty, easily explaining the story and make you included as a part of the emperors guard, to follow Kung-Fu Panda on his journey with a secret delivery.

After entering the show room, you will board one of two boats. Each boat is mounted on a motion platform atop a scissors lift which raises the vehicle closer the the screen ( think Simpsons the Ride @Universal ).

This immersive 3D dark simulator ride was build by British company SimWorks, takes four minutes and each boat accommodate up to 25 riders. Hourly capacity is around 300 people.

Water spray effects and few other details didn’t work during my visits as the ride is still in technical rehearsal. Also the sound needs some fine tuning as I couldn’t understand the conversation of the characters.

As you can guess, you will be travelling on a wild rivers, falling down waterfalls and riding through many visual obstacles.

Overall experience was very satisfying and hopefully the remaining rides waiting to be open will be all similar quality. The soon to be open rides at DreamWork’s are Dragon Gliders suspended coaster and parks longest ride … Shrek’s Merry Fairy Tale Journey!

“Learn MORE about DreamWorks Zone HERE”

Once fully open, DreamWorks section will hosts 12 rides + 15 in the rest of the park. So far the “star” of Motiongate is a dark coaster entitled “Mad Pursuit” , based on Madagascar movie with its launch speed of 95km/h.

The world’s first Hunger Games movie based rides should be also open in a few a months, but if you can’t wait until then, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is opening their newest thrill ride “TURBO TRACK” on the 29th of March, so join me on the Yas Island 🙂

Sheraton Tokyo Review

TOKYO : Let down by service @ Sheraton Miyako Hotel / REVIEW

Sheraton Miyako Hotel – Tokyo

Travellerczech Rating 6/10

Location : 6/10

Hotel is located in Shirokanedai, Minato-ku / Tokyo, 10min walk from Shirokanedai Metro St.

Hotel is not centrally located, so be aware you can’t walk anywhere from it, due to huge distances in the city. You may be mostly using the metro system. Get full day metro ticket to save time & money.

Also, I haven’t seen many restaurants or shops on the surrounding streets.

Style : 7/10

Interior lives up to the Sheraton standards with spacious lobby, neutral brown and beige decor catering mostly to corporate local clientele.

It looks better inside than on the outside, so don’t get scared off by the ugly facade.

Otherwise, except few art details, the entire experience was quite forgettable.

Rooms : 8/10

“Japanese basic chic” with no exciting decor or special touches.

Tea making facility, complimentary water and free Wi-Fi. Rooms are quite and beds comfy enough.

Bathroom is minimalistic but the toilet with many “washing” functions makes up for it 🙂

There is enough sockets to charge your devices but don’t forget adapter!

Service & Facilities : 5/10

The hotel offers Gym, Pool, Gardens, lobby Shop and free Airport shuttle which come & go in not very convenient timings.

Despite all of this, the experienced desinterest of the staff, rude receptionist and overall lack of welcoming attitude ( no to be mistaken with Japanse shyness ) ruined the entire stay in otherwise decent hotel.

Also, the cleanliness, especially at the pool area leaves a lot to be desired!

Food & Drinks : 7/10

  • Cafe California – I have enjoyed a very good dinner and wine, but prices are a bit inflated.
  • Shine Chinese restaurant – morning breakfast buffet, with decent selection of food, but if you are looking for your favourites international dishes you may be disappointed, as it caters mainly for asian palate.
  • Bamboo Lobby Bar & Lounge – busy place with nice water feature
  • M Bar – didn’t try , but it suppose to be the  place where you get a good cocktail…
  • Yamatoya Sangen – Japanese Restaurant

Value for money : 5/10

Double room from USD71

In my opinion, there are definitely better hotels in Tokyo. I wouldn’t stay here again as I didn’t feel welcomed, valued and also the “remote” location didn’t help either.
